Elbows off the table, please and thank you, mind your manners. Where did manners and customs like these as well as morality originate? Is the will to care about others and have a general respect for one another written in our DNA, or did it just happen by accident long ago? It may be possible that we are given the unique power to care about others wellbeing and to feel guilty when we don't. Do we really value others lives as our own? And on the note of manners, these customs may seem useless and stupid to the outsider partially because they have no logical purpose or constructive function. They are merely a culturally accepted way to act and behave. Manners may have in fact been made up randomly, long ago to distinguish class. They may have been used by the upper class to signify unity among them as well as superiority over others. This is why different manners from different cultures may seem stupid to one, greatly honored to another, and just accepted by yet another. The actions that we take and their reasons and purposes greatly define how we evolve and exist in life as a people. The people of Earth... We all saw the movie The Matrix, right? Could anything they have done possibly be real? Why not? I've sometimes had dreams that when I woke up I swore were real. But still for this whole world to be a computer program is almost impossible to believe, right? The world we think and believe to be real is not. There are actually two worlds, that which we call dream and that which we call real. Which one do we have full control, well most people would say real, but it is really the dream world in which we have full control over. When we die our brain waves (souls) stay alive and we are forever in the world of dream. But you make the choice of what type of dream it is either a nightmare,(hell) or a happy one (heaven). Now say we could completely control our dream world every movement, every shape, that would be heaven. We would have everything we wanted. But the normal man has no control of his dream and thus his fate remains a mystery...
Man has fought wars for thousands of years, almost since the dawn of time. Man would fight over who gets the girl, or whom world gets to eat first. As things advanced man would now fight over land. Who gets this and who gets that all relied on how many men were willing to die. But then things became more complicated. Religion was added into the mix, so now if you're not my religion I hate you and you hate me. With this prejudice, the ability to start a war becomes much easier. So now we have several factors to consider in America's present situation. Bush has declared a your either with us or against us policy. And with this policy we could easily be fighting more countries than Afghanistan (not that we're fighting Afghanistan). Now for my prediction: One of the two will happen.
Would you rather live in a world of stupid brawny people or weak geniuses? It would seem best if we have a combination of the two. We need brawny people to be construction workers, farmers, acrobatics instructors and football players. We need smart people to be engineers, programmers, scientists, and authors. Now, you think that I'm saying that farmers are stupid, but they are skillful at their jobs. But face it, it takes a lot more training and education to become a good engineer than to become a good farmer. The economy would therefor fail if we teach everyone to become an engineer. We must make sure that good amounts of people become farmers too. Must we always have to make people farmers? Can we afford to replace them with robots? Have you ever noticed, how smart people (smart, not necessarily hard working) are depressed, or at least were in their youth? If you are smart, (which you probably are if you visit this web site), you are above others, and more advanced than them. Smart people tend to be more aware, and therefore depressed. As goes the saying "Ignorance is Bliss", the opposite is also true. When people begin to realize their intelligence, they are again more aware of the world, and who truly depressing it can be. As stated in "Intelligence Equilibrium" dumb people are needed, not only for a balance in terms of jobs, but also for general "happiness". As smart people grow, it seems that they become more aware of society as a whole, and learn to fit in by becoming happy. They do not necessarily fake it, but truly become happy.
With all of the things going wrong in this world, you begin to wonder if it is at all possible to actually attain world peace. Are we as a species even capable of working together, an entire planet as one, accepting differences in beliefs and ideas, and working in harmony? Think of the multitude of Science Fiction Films and Books describing the perfect utopia known as Earth, yet never explaining how it got that way, simply implying that people eventually came to their senses and gathered around the fire burning weapons and singing "Kumbaya". The real only hope for our planet, may in fact be a blessing in disguise, such as a massive alien invasion.
Do today's advertisements contain subliminal messages not about the product? After some investigation, I came up with some interesting results. After watching Trix commercials over and over again, I realized they were making fun of homosexuals. The kids would not allow the 'rabbit to eat their Trix'. The Trix symbolizes what homosexuals cannot have because they are discriminated against. Some facts back this up:
What exactly is this world of ours coming to? An end of course but lets look deeper. We have irresponsibility (semi-comical opinion), war, and then hate (which can be in the war category but I won't talk about that). There are definitely more topics to be discussed but lets stick with these basic and I do mean basic topics.
Every one has a purpose in life. A purpose served in teaching others.
But there is a catch. We all exist on our own. Ever noticed how one
would interact only with people one can learn something from. The other
people are regarded as unnecessary. Thus we exist in a state of solitude.
Existence is relative to those we want to learn from. Existing in only
ourselves where other people form the basis of what we want ourselves
to be.
The reality of human evolution for the future generations is not based on some freak mutations, but rather something much more complex. The human brain is the most complex computer there is, but unlike any computer there is, it runs off chemical reactions and connections using living tissue instead of mechanical operations. So, as humans, how do we successfully evolve from our current form of stupidity to much more useful and efficient person. Well its actually quite simple, but nearly impossible. You see, in order to further evolve, our technology in two areas must vastly improve first, one is computer technology, and the other is Biomechanics.
The single constant in human nature is the self preservation instinct. People will do anything they can in order to survive. That said, trusting others should be a slow and careful process. It is foolish to completely trust anyone other than oneself. However, a strong friendship is the closest one can come to complete trust, while patriotism is a fluid concept, defined by the whims of the masses and undeserving of human trust. Personal relationships are to be valued over patriotism, to the point of betraying the latter for the former, because they allow for better judgment of character, because they are reciprocated, and because they are more constant and are not dictated by the changing voice of society. From a purely selfish viewpoint, it is safer to betray a country or cause, because these are more likely than friends to betray in return.

War

One, Bush besides to take things slow, Thus allowing time to let the Afghans head for the mountain's and prepare for war. He then orders the strikes of key military targets using F-22's and B-12's. For more hard to hit target's, Bush will send in special OP's forces to eliminate the threat. In the end of this conflict we will have killed or captured Bin laden. But now its time for the war part of it: Other terrorists in other countries unite. The possibility of a nuclear strike on America becomes much more possible and instead of 6,000 dead, it could quickly become 60 million dead. Followed by a nuclear winter and the end of the world, but that off the subject. Anyway, with the threat of nuclear war, Bush decides to take an all out bombing on this new all terrorist nations. Civilian casualties will be minimal do to the fact that all males are terrorists and have used the policy, with or against, on there own people. This could bring out the destruction of several countries and possibly other attacks on America. Like it or not this is probably the best situation. Even though it could take possibly as long as fifteen years to complete.
Two, and quite possibly the worst outcome possible, Bush takes the short route and decides to send U.S. troops in to countries harboring terrorists. We lose tens of thousands of people and we find out that the terrorist threat still exists. The terrorists quickly, under pressure from America decide to launch the worst possible thing imaginable. A nuclear strike pressure. Destroying most of America and leaving thousands to fend for them selves, Not to mention the death toll of about 200 million people. A nuclear winter will effect most of the world causing thousands more to die. Next, now that America is out of the way other nations realize that the terrorists could attack them as well. Then a rouge nation decides to take action against the terrorist people. They use a nuke and cause most of the middle east to be destroyed. Ultimately the whole world is drawn into this conflict. By the end the death toll could well exceed 4 billion. The main countries that will continue to exist will be Brazil and Australia. But even they will feel the effect of a nuclear winter.
Lets all hope and pray that neither of these situations will occur. It is to soon to tell...
Well, I believe that is was too soon to tell, this is why I don't write to many humanities theories. I think this certain theory needs some revising. First of all, we still haven't caught Osama bin laden, and we are thinking of striking Iraq. Iraq is a country that may have nuclear weapons. Back to Osama. He hasn't been found, and anyone who has been missing for this long, especially him, is planning something. So we had better find him before he sends a nuke right up our ass. Second, it appears as if things in Israel and Palestine are really starting to heat up. Before we know (I know what your thinking, here he goes predicting all out war, well you know what, that precisely what I'm going to do!!!) Egypt and other surrounding countries could be pulled into this. That is what we are trying to stop, but that's not my point, if it does stop, then there is no theory, so I'm writing this before it is. The entire middle east is quite like the young Europe. Many countries, all trying to take what land they can. Before you know it things will spread to Jordan and Iraq and maybe as far as Serbia. Any ways, we could be looking at another world war if things continue to progress. All it need is a spark, like the killing of Arafat, or even Powell. If there is war, America will try to intervene, like in Vietnam, because we have many allies in the area that helped us after 9/11. We will lose thousands of people for nothing and eventually things will turn nuclear and before you know it, it will be a real WORLD WAR.
in the spirit of not getting to far ahead of myself, I will leave any other parts that I am leaving out to my fellow writers, this part will be revised as things progress and change, and I might add a bit more do to new events, but only time will tell...
Intelligence Equilibrium

Super Intelligence and Depression
By Vertigo
Another issue that affects intelligence and depression is family situations and life at home as a child. A great percentage of the intellect come from broken homes, with things such as divorces, death, and drug addictions placed upon them. This forces them to become mentally mature earlier, thus increasing their intelligence and mental capacity sooner, but robbing them of their childhood, causing them to become depressed teenagers. Super-intelligent teenagers may become very unhappy at home, thus making more of an effort at school and independent activities. They are them teens who do not hate school, simply because they are not at home. Teens may become so motivated to leave this situation that they will work hard, and move away from home, going to college. Their resistance to family eventually leads to their success and eventual fulfillment. As they become independent, they learn to become happy. A summary of this is described in the following equations:
Intelligence + Depression = Motivation OR Further Depression
Intelligence + Motivation = Success
Success = Fulfillment + Money
Fulfillment + Money = Happiness
The Semi-Imaginable Concept of World Peace

Crisis brings people together, and the problem with most crises today is that humans cause them, therefore bringing people together, yet still against each other. In order to form an eventually peaceful society; an outside force must threaten humans, therefore forcing them to bind together. A natural disaster could satisfy this need, but natural disasters leave nothing in particular to hate. Hate of a common enemy may be needed for world peace. Cursing at an independent object such as a comet or hurricane seems futile. (Unless of course they are sent by evil extraterrestrial intent on crushing Earth and using humans for slave labor, but that's another thing entirely.) Instead, humans may in fact come to their state of peace, after an alien attack, where they join together, develop new technology to fight this enemy, and after the threat dissipates, they remain united. Our golden years as a species may only come after a time of great darkness...

Still not convinced? If you surf the internet, you will see many 'punch the money' banner ads. Not only does it promote hurting monkeys, it promotes hunting. Even recently, there have been 'shoot the ducks' banner ads.
So, as you see, advertisement markets not only products, it markets ideas.

What is this World Coming to?
By Muntunga
Irresponsibility is starting to breed like rabbits, although there still is a lot of responsibility out there. Here's a comical example; Spring breakers. WHOAHOHO!! What in the lords name do we have here?! A bunch of horny teens who get drunk and get laid for 2 whole weeks! Sounds fun right? Yeah it definitely does, but they are tomorrow's leaders! I figure Billy Clinton was a spring breaker and just look how his past affected his job, his passion (for fat girls, haha). Maybe they deserve 2 weeks off to just go buck wild, but what about kids still in grade school? Getting sidetracked by that cutie that sits in front of you in science? When you're supposed to be learning about currents through a copper wire and voltage, your staring at her funbags. We might not all care for homework so why not just go out and play for a while? I got a bag full of excuses for the teacher, she won't care! What's the gain of not doing your assigned work? Um, 45 minutes more playing time? Isn't that cute, BUT YOUR WRONG! Your entire life in grade school is to do school work! You don't have to work a job or have kids to look after your life is school!
War: Perp has already taken the privilege to explain this category, so I will be brief. However when he wrote "War", the ongoing skirmish and suicide bombings with Israel and Palestine's serious hostility hadn't occurred. Besides both sides being in some serious doggie-doo, the US is involved, or is at least trying to be involved, although little is being done over what the US is telling Israel and Palestine to do. Both are right and both are wrong. Palestinian's and Arafat are in this horrible position because they just want a homeland. But, in going for their goal the offenders of their wants, got in the way and radical citizens of Palestine sacrifice themselves to take out "the enemy," which in most cases are innocent lives. Israel, in my opinion, Sharon should do what he is doing, not pulling his troops back. I say this because, Israel troops are going after the people who are in groups that do these heinous crimes against Israel (suicide bombings) and the people who are supporting these acts. But they are also killing many people. It's a horrible thing that's going on pray for them.
Hate is way too broad of a word, so let's bring it down to racial criticisms. African American's have come a long way in earning equal respect, and have succeeded in many ways. But let's not forget what hate there is today for them. There are police killings and stalkings, suspicions and assumptions about their jobs live. But like I said they have without a doubt earned many people's respect, even now in politics and many high paying executive jobs. Definitely in their tremendous athletic abilities they have stepped into the spotlight but also in things like music making, or acting. Denzel Washington (actor) to Drag-on (Ruff Ryder's rapper) Blacks have shown the world they are equal and can be just as good as anyone else. But the situation for gays is different. Maybe blacks have come a long way, but while everyone grows older, the perspective and treatment of gays is getting harsher and harsher. Gays in the military to young gay people getting beaten up at school, it doesn't matter. Younger and younger kids are learning about gays and learn to hate it, usually because of their parents POV since younger kids mock their elders actions and opinions because that's all they know is right. And as much as we don't like it, Americans are getting hammered because there is an image of Americans living in trailer park homes while in a beater, sipping' back on Grand Pa's old cough medicine (beer). Is it getting better or worse? You decide, I've done my part...

Life's Purpose

The quest for zero defect. Seeking flawless qualities in others
hoping you can provide them with some unique quality of your own. In so
doing becoming the "better persons" we all want to be. We all get
prepared for a life after this. It is said that people that you dislike has
qualities in them that are similar to your own of which you disapprove.
When taking a life companion one is looking for someone that makes one
feel good about one self. (Biggest lie in the world:" I don't care what
people think.").
Another viewpoint: no one exists except yourself. And it is so for all
people. In order for us to gain from others existence the "bubbles" of
different people has to interact and thus creating a general existence
to all and giving purpose to all that has life.
In short: you as person can be found in all existence around oneself.
When talking to your best friend, spouse or stranger ... asks yourself
... "what are you busy looking for and what does that person have that
you want?"

The next Level of Human Evolution
By Perp

The field of Biotechnology should then be incorporated to translating Chemical signals from the brain into computer language using zeros and ones. So, what would then be the point of translating human thoughts into computer language? Well it's actually quite simple, the goal would be that every human would have the ability to live forever and have infinite brainpower, infinite to the current point of all knowledge. Instead of attempting to create our own AI from scratch we should attempt to just translate chemical brain signals to computer language, if translated successfully then the computer itself should run as an independent knowledge, its own AI. At first this would essentially be just copying the brain signals to AI, but over time it would be moving the brain signals to a computer for infinite length of thought.
At present this technology is not available by any means, Dual processing units are coming into common usage, but the more advanced computers are to expensive for such unneeded research. The ability for human immortality has been a goal for ages. This goal may not be met by any other means then that of computer and bio technology. Or can it...

A strong relationship allows for better judgment of character because of time spent together and shared histories. A person with similar views and experiences is more likely to be trustworthy, and therefore loyal. It easy is easy to judge the character of a friend, making it easier to know their motives and intentions. A country, or ‘cause,’ however, is comprised of many individuals, whom one can not fully know or trust. Even a beloved leader may have ulterior motives. Betraying a friend for a cause could result in betrayal by the cause. The opposite is much less likely to happen. For example, in the late 1970s, Jim Jones led over 900 people to their death in a mass suicide. The followers of his ‘People’s Temple’ cult most likely believed in Jones, but he betrayed them. Because none of his followers actually knew him personally, they could not be sure of his character and motives. All that they saw was his public face. In truth, Jones was mentally unstable and a heavy drug user. Close friends, however often know the many faces and emotions of each other. They know one another’s intentions and situations, and are therefore likely to trust each other. It is better (and safer) to trust something familiar, such as a friendship, than to sacrifice that trust for an unfamiliar and abstract cause.
The trust and love in strong friendships are reciprocated. Although one may feel ‘accepted’ or ‘belonging,’ to a country or cause, the individual is on a larger scale, unimportant and expendable. In a personal relationship, however the individual is important and valued. The false sense of acceptance and importance which causes give can mislead and deceive. It is human nature to desire acceptance and worth, and friendships offer this more so than causes. A cause can abandon the individual in an instant, while in personal relationships, this is much more difficult. Betraying a friend has farther reaching consequences, because once a strong trust such as that is betrayed, it becomes difficult to find trust elsewhere. Causes and countries change, sometimes quickly, but deceiving a friendship often leads to a situation where it is impossible to be trusted by any individual or group again. In Dante’s Inferno, the poet places Brutus and Cassius in the same circle of hell as Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Christ. It is impossible for Judas to forgive himself, so he hangs himself. Christ did nothing but love him, but Judas betrayed this friendship, and suffered the consequences. Having betrayed his friend, and the trust he put in himself, Judas has nothing to live for.
Lastly, it is better to betray a cause for a friend because good friends are more constant that causes, which are ultimately ruled by the masses. A friendship will not suddenly end without reason, but the public, being generally ignorant, is susceptible to change and persuasion. A golden example of this occurs in Julius Caesar, when Brutus and Antony speak at Caesar’s funeral. At first, the crowd is angry with Brutus for killing their beloved leader. When Brutus speaks, he calms them, and they now agree with his point of view. After Antony addresses them, however, they again change their minds, and vow to kill Brutus and Cassius. This fickleness may seem slightly exaggerated, but it is present in society even today. People will often follow the most charismatic leader, despite the consequences. Shakespeare illustrates this when the crowd, whom Brutus put his faith in, betrays and turns against him. The same people Brutus believed he was serving when he killed his own friend end up despising him for it. Although Brutus believed that he killed his friend for the good of Rome, ‘Rome’ showed no thanks or appreciation. This ‘noble deed’ ended his life. Because he betrayed his own friend the people no longer trusted him. In this case, because of its inconstant nature, the cause has nothing to offer to one who supports it.
Due to the selfish nature of humanity, it can be concluded that it is better to trust a friend and betray a country, simply because the opposite course of action is more likely to end in disaster. Humanity in general is flawed and selfish, but at times, friendships overcome these limitations. A cause, however, is too susceptible to change and too distant to be worthy of great trust. In the long run, friendships have distinct, profound meanings and influences on ones life. Friends are reachable and concrete. A cause is merely a concept held together by the often mindless masses. Putting effort into a friendship results in recognition, while in causes, the individual is unimportant and replaceable. It is truly noble to fight, betray one’s country, and even die for one’s friend, because this shows great trust not only in a friend, but also in oneself.
